IT Training and Support
Logging in to the University network
Your username and password for access to the University network and your email address will be issued to you by the Registry in your University enrolment pack. You will need these details in order to complete online enrolment. You will also require your username and password to access other University and Law School systems.
Training
All new students must attend compulsory IT Skills and training courses. This will include all new entrants to Year 1 and direct entrants to Years 2 or F as well as incoming Erasmus students.
These training courses will be incorporated into teaching in the first three weeks of the semester. Further details will be issued at the start of the semester.
All students are provided with University email accounts via Pegasus Mail. This can be securely accessed through computers on the Cardiff University network, or from any Internet enabled computer using the Squirrel Mail service.
Student Intranet
The Law School Student Intranet contains information will be specific to you, including your contact details, the modules on which you are registered, tutorial groups, personal tutor details and your examination results at the end of the year. You will also be required to submit your summative (assessed) coursework electronically via the student intranet.
Blackboard
Blackboard is Cardiff University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This provides on-line information for each module you are registered for and module tutors use Blackboard to share course documents, issue essay titles, make announcements etc. General information on the LLB programmes and modules will also be shown on Blackboard.
SIMS Online
The Student Information Management System (SIMS) is the institution wide database used by Cardiff University and holds details of all students at Cardiff University. SIMS Online allows you to view your programme and module information, and to change your contact details. SIMS Online is also used for online enrolment.
