Special support for International Students

The University’s International Development Division provides all the information and support necessary to help ease the transition to life as a student at Cardiff. Once you have been made an offer here, for example, you will receive advice on such matters as immigration, visas, healthcare, climate and living in Cardiff. We can arrange to collect you by coach from Cardiff or Heathrow airports. We then provide an induction programme and, in the week before enrolment, there are various social events and visits to introduce you to Cardiff and to welcome you to Wales.

English Language Requirements and Assistance

All students studying at Cardiff University must be able to demonstrate a minimum level of competence in English Language. For those without a GCSE pass at Grade C or above in English, Cardiff University’s preferred test of English language competence is IELTS. For applications to all LLB degree programmes, Cardiff Law School requires a minimum of 6.5 in the IELTS examination (or equivalent qualification) with at least 6.0 in each of the sub-skills and 6.5 in the writing element.

Cardiff Law School runs an English Language Support Programme for international students whose first language is not English.

Cardiff University's International Development Division provides advice and guidance to international students who are thinking of studying in the UK, have applied for a course or are already studying at the University.
