The LLB Law & Politics Degree

The LLB Law and Politics degree is a full-time three year course. Academic years consist of two semesters and you are required to pursue modules to the value of 120 credits in each year of your studies.
- In Year One, you will study the following compulsory modules - Public Law; Foundations of English Law; Criminal; Contract Law
- In Years Two and Three students may choose from a wide range of optional modules. We place great emphasis on student choice and our modular scheme of study allows you to construct a degree programme tailored to your individual interests and preferences.
You will study modules provided by the School of European Studies (Politics), which will have its own requirements concerning those that are compulsory or optional.
All of the LLB degree programmes offered by the Law School allow you to obtain a 'qualifying law degree' i.e. provide the opportunity for you to study the Foundation subjects required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board for completion of the academic stage of training towards becoming a solicitor or a barrister.

Typical offer conditions
AAB at A2 level.
There are no specific subjects required, however we do not accept General Studies. However, we expect an applicant's profile to contain a miminum of two traditional academic subjects. Some subjects may be excluded from any offer that is made. Further advice and guidance on subject choices is available in a Russell Group guide included on our FAQ page.
We also require a strong performance at GCSE to include a pass in English (grade C or above).
Non-standard qualifications accepted include:
- International Baccalaureate: 34 points, including 6,6,5 at higher level
- European Baccalaureate: 82%
- Welsh Baccalaureate: WB Advanced Diploma with pass in Core and grades AB at A-level or AAB at A-level
- Scottish Advanced Highers: AAB
- Scottish Highers: Considered in conjunction with Advanced Highers in exceptional circumstances
- Irish Highers: AAAAB
- ACCESS courses: Considered individually
- Vocational A-levels: Acceptable only in combination with A-levels
