The LLB Law & German Degree

UCAS Code: RM21
Among Cardiff Law School’s most distinctive features are the integrated Law and Language degree programmes. Law and German is a full-time four year degree programme. Academic years consist of two semesters and you are required to pursue modules to the value of 120 credits in each year of your studies. You will spend year three at a University in Germany or Austria.
The international dimension to modern legal practice requires lawyers who are not only skilled in the law of England and Wales, but who are also fluent in a modern language and conversant with the general culture, political institutions and legal systems of other countries. At Cardiff you can meet these requirements by choosing a combination of subjects which enables you to:
- study sufficient English legal subjects to obtain a 'qualifying law degree' i.e. provide the opportunity for you to study the Foundation subjects required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board for completion of the academic stage of training towards becoming a solicitor or a barrister;
- become proficient in reading, speaking and writing a second modern language;
- become familiar with the culture, politics and society of your chosen country;
- obtain a thorough grounding in the legal system of that country
