Professional Courses
Legal Practice Course (LPC)
Cardiff's Legal Practice Course consistently achieves the Solicitors Regulation Authority's highest grade. It is run from the Centre for Professional Legal Studies at Cardiff Law School. The LPC is a skills-based course, offered full-time over 10 months, or part-time over two years.
Professional Development Unit (PDU)
The Professional Development Unit (PDU) is an established provider of both the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme and the Criminal Litigation (Duty Solicitor) Accreditation Scheme.
The PDU also undertakes professional accreditation schemes for expert witnesses (in partnership with Bond Solon Training) and for human resources practitioners (on behalf of Corus). Additionally, the PDU undertakes research projects, with particular areas of interest including practitioner skills and the court process.
Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC)
Cardiff Law School has delivered a high quality and highly regarded Bar Vocational Course since the course was first introduced by the Bar Council in 1997. From September 2010, we will provide the new Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), which is a skills-based course, offered full-time over 10 months.
The Cardiff Law School CPD Programme
From September 2010, the Law School is offering a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for professionals interested in studying Masters level modules as single units.
The CPD Programme is designed for busy professionals already committed to a career path, not necessarily in law, and enables students to pace their studies according to their own professional commitments.
The programme offers a flexible study format. Students may choose to study one unit only, thereby earning one LLM unit, or they may wish to go further and obtain a full LLM by successfully completing four modular units and a dissertation.
