Introduction

BA (Hons) Law & Sociology (Durham); MA Legal Practice (UCE). Jason completed the LPC at CPLS in its first year, 1993/94. He worked as a trainee and assistant solicitor with Loosemores in Cardiff, being admitted as a solicitor in November 1996. Whilst with Loosemores Jason undertook a broad range of litigation work. Jason was admitted to the Law Society Children Panel in April 2000. In June 2001 he moved to Hurlow & Partners as an Associate, specialising in Children Act advocacy.

Jason joined CPLS in January 2003. He initially worked as a member of the LPC team responsible for the compulsory course in Litigation and Advocacy.  He now teaches on the BVC, and is a member of the team responsible for Criminal Litigation and Evidence, and is course leader for the Child Care Option.  In addition, Jason also undertakes work for the Professional Development Unit within CPLS, and is Deputy Director of the Unit's Expert Witness Certificate.  He is also part of the team currently conducting the Quality Assurance for Advocates pilot for the Legal Services Commission.

Jason has completed a research based dissertation considering the impact of the Human Rights Act on local authority decision making for children in care as the basis for an MA in Legal Practice. He remains a consultant with Hurlow & Partners, a niche criminal and family law practice, providing litigation and advocacy support. In 2007, Jason was appointed as a Justice of the Peace for Gwent.  He has also delivered papers at conferences, most recently a Law and Procedure update at the Bond Solon Expert Witness Conference 2008.
