Introduction
Dr Breda main research interests lies on constitutional patriotism as a method of accommodation of identity based constitutional claims such as the one promoted by national identity groups (in Britain, Spain and Italy) , religious communities In particular, Vito is interested on the benefits, by a way of comparison to their in advance exclusions, of considering these claims as elements of a modern (highly diversified) liberal democracy. Dr Breda holds a fellowship from the British Higher Education Academy.
In 2010 he was appointed visiting fellow at the Center for European Studies at Canberra Australia National University. Since 2008 he has been visiting professor in comparative thought at Madrid Law School (Comillas Pontifical University) and Bilbao (University of Deusto).
Before joining the Cardiff Law School, Dr Breda worked as researcher for the Scottish Parliament. He studied for his PhD at the School of Law of the University of Edinburgh, obtained his Master degree from the Academy of Legal Theory in Brussels - Katholieke Universiteit Brussels, and received his Honour degree (Dottore in Giusprudenza, indirizzo forense) from the Universita’ degli Studi di Milano, Facolta di Giurisprudenza.
