Introduction

Dr Demetra Arsalidou is the Module Leader of Company Law (undergraduate level) and Comparative Corporate Governance (postgraduate level). She also teaches Trusts. Her research interests lie in the area of company law and corporate governance. Her most recent research addresses questions of corporate law theory, with a focus on the liability of bankers and the role of the law in holding them liable for the excesses. She has published widely in the area of company law in leading company law journals, such as the Journal of Business Law, the European Business Law Review and The Company Lawyer. She wrote a number of articles on UK and Australian Company law and is the author of 'The Impact of Modern Influences on the Traditional Duties of Care, Skill and Diligence of Company Directors', Kluwer Law International (2001).


Demetra holds an LL.B degree from the University of Lancaster, and and LL.M and Ph.D degree from the University of Exeter. She has a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, University of Exeter. She moved to Cardiff from a lectureship at Monash University, Australia, and earlier held positions at the University of Exeter. During her time at Exeter, she also worked as a researcher on a major project on the disqualification of directors, published by the ACCA. In the Australian summer of 2003, Demetra was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, London. She also has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Toulouse.
