FINAL TO BE HELD AT CARDIFF LAW SCHOOL IN APRIL 2006

Please note that most of these arrangements have now been confirmed, but are subject to minor change.

Competitors, coaches and guests are recommended to arrive in Cardiff on Monday 3rd (or Tuesday 4th April 2006 at the latest). This will allow a day or so to acclimatise and recover from jet lag ahead of the exciting programme of events!

Formal activities begin 9am Wednesday 5th April.

Wednesday – 5th April 2006

09.30am : If you wish to go on the visit to the Welsh Folk Museum on Wed 5 April, please report to the Law School, Museum Ave by 9.30am to register. The bus will leave the Law School at 10am prompt.

10.00am : Coach trip to Museum of Welsh Life

1.30pm : leave Museum for Eversheds Solicitors, central Cardiff.

2.15pm : Lunch at Eversheds

3-15pm - 4.15pm : Eversheds- a lesson for our visitors in the Welsh language. A fun introduction to one of the oldest living European languages.

4.15pm - 5.30pm : return to hotels (no transport provided - Eversheds' office is a short walk from most central hotels.)

5.30pm : If you are NOT going on the Museum trip on Wed 5 April, but are attending the formal launch of the competition at the Ewan Davies lecture, then you will need to report to the Law School at 5.30pm on Wed 5 April, in time for the formal lecture at 6pm

6pm - 7pm :attend the annual Ewan Davies memorial lecture, funded by by the Ewan Davies Memorial fund, delivered by Michael Napier QC, the Attorney General’s pro bono envoy to members of the local legal profession and the judiciary. Includes formal welcome to competitors, coaches and guests. (Please note, no transport to the Law School will be provided, so please allow walking or taxi time.)

7pm - 9pm approx: Buffet supper at Aberdare Hall, near the Law School, with local solicitors, barristers, judges and distinguished guests. Guests to make their own way back to accommodation.

Either: 9am-11am AGM of ICCC at Law School (for committee members and national representatives/proxies)

OR: 9.15am bus to leave Cardiff Law School for visit to Cardiff Bay and Welsh Assembly building, before bus at 11.15 from Cardiff Bay to Big Pit for day's activities.

OR: Free time until coach leaves law school for Big Pit at 11.15am for day's activities

11.15am : Bus leaves Cardiff Bay for the Big Pit, the National Mining Museum of Wales and 2005 Gulbenkian award winner. Soup lunch in the Miners’ canteen!

approx. 2.00pm : excursion down the coal mine to experience the coal face itself and see where the pit ponies and the coal miners spent their working lives (optional for those who are frightened of the dark!)

Enjoy the museum at your leisure until:
5.00pm : Coach from Big Pit to Blaenavon Workmen’s Hall.
5.30pm : informal buffet and time to socialise with other visitors.
7pm : concert by Blaenavon Male Voice Choir - experience a traditional Welsh Valleys’ welcome!
8 pm :coach return to Cardiff (arriving at about 9pm)

9am - Competition first round.

Saturday 8th April 2006

Competition - final rounds including International Final - exact times to be confirmed.

5pm - announcement of results.

7pm : Final Dinner, including a traditional Welsh Banquet and entertainment at Cardiff Castle
