Cardiff Law School Reunion Dinner 2008

On Friday 7th November we were honoured to welcome back our first graduates and many distinguished guests to a dinner in celebration of Cardiff University's 125th Anniversary.

The evening commenced with a drinks reception at Cardiff Law School, followed by the School's first public Annual Lecture with the Right Honourable Lord Justice Thomas. Approximately 200 people gathered to hear him speak on the topic of 'Law Making at Cardiff, Westminster and Brussels: Access to Justice and the Rule of Law'.

The evening continued at the University's magnificent Glamorgan Building where alumni and guests enjoyed a welcome drink and some beautiful music from harpist Shelley Fairplay. A four course dinner followed giving alumni a chance to catch up with their fellow class mates and Law School staff and share their memories of Cardiff.

The dinner concluded with an engaging and stimulating speech from alumnus Anthony Jenkins who graduated in 1971. During his speech Anthony recalled many of his former lecturers and fellow graduates and spoke with great fondness for his time at Cardiff Law School.

We were also delighted to welcome back one of our earliest lecturers, Mrs Margaret Richards, and Professor Keith Patchett, Head of the Law School in the early 1970s. The evening was a great success and enjoyed by all.
